Description

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) conducted the Economic Census 2024, the country’s first fully digital nationwide census. To enable smooth, secure, and efficient digital data collection, BBS deployed 120,000 tablets across Bangladesh. Inovex provided the complete Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform to manage, control, and secure all these devices centrally throughout the project period (2023–2025).

Project Story

Use Case

BBS required a robust and scalable solution to centrally manage all survey tablets used by field enumerators during the digital census. Ensuring data security, consistent app configurations, and real-time device visibility was essential for the success of this nationwide operation.

The Challenge

  • Managing 120,000 tablets used in remote and urban areas
  • Ensuring secure handling of sensitive survey data
  • Providing consistent app deployment and configuration
  • Preventing device misuse and unauthorized access
  • Offering remote support and visibility throughout the census period

The Solution

INovex deployed its enterprise-grade Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution across all BBS survey tablets. Our platform provided a complete, secure, and centrally managed environment tailored for large-scale government deployments.

The solution enabled BBS to:

  • Secure devices and survey data with enterprise-level restrictions
  • Centrally monitor and manage all devices through a unified console
  • Track device locations in real time
  • Deploy survey applications with a single click
  • Manage app updates, versions, and configurations remotely
  • Block unnecessary or harmful apps
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and support
  • Enable automated asset tracking and reporting

This transformed BBS’s field operations into a highly efficient and secure digital workflow.

Implementation

INovex completed full deployment of the MDM system across all 120,000 tablets, ensuring they were configured, secured, and optimized before and during the Economic Census 2024.

The project was implemented between 2023–2025 in multiple phases:

  1. Device Enrolment & Configuration:
All 120,000 tablets were enrolled in the MDM system and configured with security policies.
  2. Application Deployment:
Survey apps were pushed to all devices centrally, ensuring consistency across the entire fleet.
  3. Security Reinforcement:
Strong device restrictions and data-protection policies were applied based on BBS’s compliance requirements.
  4. Training & Knowledge Transfer:
BBS administrators received full training to independently operate and monitor the MDM platform.
  5. Ongoing Support & Monitoring:
INovex continued to provide remote support, feature updates, and technical assistance throughout the project duration.

The deployment ensured seamless operation of one of the country’s largest technology-driven survey initiatives.

Benefits

The MDM implementation delivered significant advantages:

  • 100% Centralized Device Management for all 120,000 tablets
  • Enhanced Data Security with strict device policies
  • Faster Survey Execution due to uniform app deployment
  • Reduced Operational Costs by minimizing manual oversight
  • Secure digital operation for Economic Census 2024
  • Real-time Visibility into device status, usage, and performance
  • Improved Field Productivity with remote support and troubleshooting
  • Accurate Asset Tracking for all survey devices
